Brands have been doing this for years. A collaboration or super limited quickstrike will drop that gets everyone’s attention, but the supply never meets the demand.
Next thing you know the brand releases a GR version with extremely similar callouts to the shoe that caught everyone’s attention. Need a few examples? The Nerf & Weatherman KD 4, and even the Acronym Presto.
After those releases people got several shots at coppin KD 4s. Of course the colors were not the same as Nerf & Weatherman, but people just wanted a chance to cop the KD 4 at that point.
As for the Acronym Presto, Nike later introduced the Utility Presto – a similar aesthetic that was much easier to purchase.
ASAP Bari who is no longer a Nike partner, helped breathe new hype into the classic Air Force 1 Low. Together, he and Nike created a huge demand for the VLONE AF1 which featured tumbled leather and simple Black/Orange colorway.
So here we are with the rollout of what I’m calling the Diet VLONE Air Force 1 Collection. To be fair, all the people who went crazy for VLONE AF1s should be more than pleased with these six options.
